Theater Design | Annual Course
Athina Angelopoulou
My name is Athina Angelopoulou and I am an architect and engineer. I studied Architecture Engineering at the University of Patras during the period 2013-2018 and graduated with honors 08/10. At the same school, I did my master's thesis entitled "Destroyed Cities: Atlantis, Ibris, Atis, Nemesis & Vision" with a grade of 9.7/10. At the same time, in 2017 I studied at IEK AKMI with a specialization in 3D Animation with an excellent 10/10. As for foreign languages, apart from Greek I speak English, Spanish and German. Although architecture is a broad and interesting science, in my career I have been more interested in graphic design, which I have been dealing with for the last 4 years. We are currently working as a Concept & Graphic Designer in the company Marketing Marketing: Destsetters. At the same time I am attending the LSA of Scenography, as this is a field that I would be extremely interested in exploring.
Alkmini Damianakou
School of Interior design, University of West Attica graduate (2021). Participation in the following scenography workshops “Scenography workshop based on the practical design of theatre productions”, with David Negrin (2019), “Scenography and Costume design Workshop”, with Yannis Metzikof (2020). Working experience as an assistant scenographer of the theatrical production “Alimono stous Neous”, staged at Coronet theatre, Pagrati, Athens, directed by V. Nikolaidis and designed by David Negrin (2019). Other significant workshops/ projects “Open House Athens 2017, 2019”, “Memniso, Meeting of design students (MEDS) workshop Spetses, Greece (2019)”.
Katerina Merkouri
Graduate of graphic design at the Vakalo School of Applied Arts, I made a career as an Art Director in advertising companies for 25 years. Later, I was educated at the GREEK CHILDREN'S ART MUSEUM on Aesthetic Education and organization of art workshops, on Materials and Techniques in Painting.
As an animator of Art workshops, we co-created with elementary school children
for more than 10 years. As I joined the Theatrical Group of the Municipality of Halandri, I had the opportunity, both to play and to make props and sets for three performances.
Through an Annual Scenography Seminar, I greatly expand my knowledge about Scenography, experiencing through the collaboration in our Team and the workshops, its wonderful world.
Sofia Panagiotopoulou
Born in Athens, 1995, she studied Architect Engineer in University of Patras. Ever since her childhood, she attended dance folk Greek dances, contemporary and argentine tango. Her interests around the theatrical space and the physical experience in the theatrical space, are leading her to study scenography. She has been a participant in performances, as an artist assistant and as a performer. She works as an Architect and scenograpghic assistant.
Marianna Tzouti
I was born and raised in an oppressive environment, compatible with the standards of Greek reality. Despite the artistic tendencies from a young age, I began to overcome my hesitations at the age of 26, where for the first time I became seriously involved in painting and drawing. I started making jewelry, while later I joined the Department of Interior Architecture, decoration and object design, the University of Athens in Egaleo. From there I was given the opportunity to attend for a year, the postgraduate program in Interior Design, of the Politecnico di Milano. During my studies, and especially through this magical study trip to Italy,
I discovered my trend in art installations, cinema, lighting and scenography.
So, today I'm here, trying to enrich my knowledge in this subject.
Performance Design
Maria Darmou
My last studies were in the field of History and Philosophy of Science and Technology within the interdepartmental MΑ of the National University of Athens and the National Technical University. Since then, I have been working as a researcher in the field of Social Sciences. Studying Performance Design at LSA allows me to explore means of expression and ways of experimentation in an effort to create experiences that transform the way we perceive the realities around us.
Angeliki Manta
Born in 1991, currently based in Athens. Free lancer photographer, architect, visual artist. My work seeks to form the visual language in order to interpret the psychological and psychosexual operations which are experienced, embodied and eventually altering our perception about the world, by creating “different realities”
More specifically it focuses on the function of Desire and how is transformed into Fantasy both articulated by the psychoanalyst Jaqcues Lacan . With these two functions struggling in the human unconscious, the goal is to decode them visually, and to transform them into something tangible like an image, an experience, a story, a performance etc.
Martha Mavri
Martha Mavri is an Architect and Visual Artist based in Athens. She studied Architecture at the Democritus University of Thrace while her passion for Visual Arts started at a very young age. Over the last years she has been working as an Architect and Graphic Designer on film posters. At the same time, she has participated in many group exhibitions across the country and abroad. In 2020, her interest in an artistic approach to the space and dramaturgy led her to become involved in Scenography by attending Theatre & Performance Design courses at the Laboratory of Scenography - LSA in Athens. What she is interested in working on is the correlation between the Visual and Performing Arts through the creation of narrative environments.

She was distinguished for her artistic interpretation in ballets such as:
Don Quixote, Giselle /I.Mukhamedov, Solitaire / Mc Millan, Romeo and Juliet /R.Janella, American Dream /k.Rigos, Cinderella O.Vinogradov, Ornithes, Pinocchio /K.Armitage .
Parallel to her dancing career, she taught ballet and repertoire at the Academy School of Dance of the National Opera and in private schools in Athens.
In 2012 she moved to France, and got acquainted with the historical dances under the guidance of Dr. Eugenie Roucher, while continuing her artistic career as a ballet teacher and choreographer.

In May 2021 she returned to Athens, where she broadens her knowledge in performance skills, studying scenography in the beginning, with E. Georgiou, and then with Maria Haniotaki.
Maria Gkela
My name is Maria Gkela and I have graduated from the university of Athens School of Fine Arts with a degree in painting and professor Michalis Manousakis. During my studies I attended the scenography workshop with L. Pezanou as well as the engraving workshop with N. Kotsiou. At the same time I participated in 2 semester cycles of seminars on contemporary art jewelry with A. Kandaraki. In addition, I have taken part in group exhibitions during my studies with the painting workshop as well as the engraving workshop at “Felios” gallery. For the last 3 months I have been seeking to deepen my knowledge in the field of scenography, participating in the workshop of Mrs. M. Haniotaki. I have also worked as a drawing and painting teacher for children and adults. In February 2022 I edited the animation for the video clip of the band “Dog in the Fog”
Katerina Margariti
Katerina Margariti was born and raised in Athens. She studied in the history department of Archeology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She studied in the acting laboratory of Vassilis Diamantopoulos 1999 and continued her education in theater, at the NAMA studio (2018-2019) and at Tempus Verum (2019). Participates in the seminar of Angelos Aggelis, "What is scenography "(2021) and today she is studying scenography - costume design at the Laboratory of scenography Athens LSA, with Maria Haniotaki (2022). Participated in the performances "The black butterfly ", by Eri Ritsou directed by Nagia Mitsakou as an actress and in the play "Trojans" by Euripides, directed by Nagia Mitsakou as an actress, while taking over set design and costume design
Maria Panagiotopoulou
Maria Panagiotopoulou was born in Athens and grew up in Mesologi. She began her studies in urban planning at AUTH but her ardent interest for design and arts led her to architecture. Thus, she graduated from the Department of Architecture of DUTH, with a thesis on the experience of the museum space through digital media.
In 2017-2018 she was given the opportunity to work in the technical staff of two films. So the need arises to explore scenography and 2022 she completed the LSA scenography seminars. Today Maria lives and works in Athens as an architect.
Afroditi Pouchtou
Born and raised in Athens, she studied Architecture at the Polytechnic School of University of Patras (Intergr.Master), and earned her degree in 2020. She has taken part in architectural workshops and competitions, while being part of the Open House Athens team as a volunteer, since 2016. Her involvement with ballet as a dancer and theater as a spectator from a young age, contributed to the formation of her later diploma and research thesis interests. These included the study of American avant garde director’s Robert Wilson oeuvre, and its connection to the architectural means of space production and design. As a result of this process and the exploration of the joints in architecture, theater and cinema, she suggested new perspectives of experiencing Filopappou hill in Athens. Currently , she is occupied as an architect in Athens and she attends the Scenography workshop in LSA school by Maria Chaniotaki.
Leda Tympa
Graduated from the Biology Department of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and from the MSc Molecular Plant Biology and Biotechnology of the University of Crete. Studied Molecular Physiology of Plants as a PhD candidate for two years. Practiced amateur photography. Participated in plays of theater groups in Athens and Heraklion, Crete. Worked as an assistant costume designer in a short film to be released in 2022. Currently studying in the Laboratory of Scenography, Athens, supervised by Maria Chaniotaki.
Vaxevanelli Efi
Born in Thessaloniki, 1987. She studied fashion design at the AKTO Art & Design School and has knowledge of free design. From a young age had an innate talent for drawing, painting, and experimenting with constructions. She worked for over a decade in the family business in manufacturing and retail selling shoes and clothes in Athens and Thessaloniki, as a designer of women and men clothes. She speaks English and French.
